A story about a ghost ship circulates in the province of Lazi in Siquijor island and this ship mysteriously appears past midnight in the same spot where people used to see that strange ship propelling in and out near Siquijor island and vanishes. There was even an account where a fisherman in the middle of the sea saw the ghost ship very close and personal and he says the ship was huge and full pack of people in it and he says he even hears them chatting in the ship but he cannot understood their language as he storied it to anybody who ask him about the ghost ship.
A well known TV personality in the Philippines Jessica Soho got interested about the ghost ship of Siquijor and her team went to the island to investigate all the facts behind it. They interviewed people in the island who claimed they saw the ship past midnight and vanishes in thin air. Jessica Soho’s team went to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) office in Siquijor to get their side but the chief of the PCG in that area downplays the sightings of such a ghost ship.
The PCG chief went to Lazi coast together with some of the armed coast guards and the TV crews of Jessica Soho to wait at midnight to check and see for themselves if it were true. Their waiting bears fruit the ghost ship appears in front of their eyes and on camera and it was a bit of a distant though from their location in the coast of Lazi but it seems an ordinary passenger ship and it shows up as seemingly two passenger ships that crossed together in path. Immediately the coast guards contacted all shipping companies in the Visayas area if they have a ship that passed by Lazi, Siquijor that very time they saw the ship past midnight but the reply of all these companies are negative.
The Philippine Coast Guard planned to chase the ships the next time it will appear again past midnight still with Jessica Soho’s team to check what the ship is about. That very day where they plan the chase it did appear and the coast guard used a light craft and speeds away in the sea towards the ghost ships but about 100 nautical miles the craft still speeding fast towards the ships the waves are pounding their craft heavily and they saw the ships are propelling away from them as fast as they couldn’t imagine, the PCG aborted the operation.
They shouldn’t aborted the mission because it seems that the ships are foreign vessels this could be not a ghost ship which is very untrue but a chinese or vietnamese vessels intruding in our seas or maybe a drug syndicate used to transport drugs to some islands in the Philippines. This is weakness and stupidity in its highest level by the Philippine Coast Guard of Siquijor to just abort a mission that way. Also the weak part of our coast guard it doesn’t have much of an equipment and reliable sea crafts just like the Singaporeans or the Indonesians coast guards have and the biggest and most treasured equipment for this type of operation are helicopters. If only our coast guard chase that so called ghost ship via chopper those strange ships will be caught red handed in whatever they’re doing in our seas near Siquijor.
